Shaun White Wears Tight Pants, Breaks Records

Just yesterday, the New York Times was reporting that Shaun White had gotten rusty in the slopestyle competition, since he’s been devoting most of his energy to the halfpipe for the past few seasons.

And his fellow competitors were also teasing him for his new competition wardrobe, which apparently includes tight leather pants, or something resembling them.

“He’s going to get there,” Toutant said. “He just needs to practice more and learn some different doubles, and maybe ride with some bigger pants.”

The pants comment referred to a getup White wore here that resembled motorcycle racing leathers from the 1950s. White has landed on some Hollywood best- and worst-dressed lists before. But the leather look and the tightness of his pants are firsts for snowboarding. There has been a kind of buzz about them all week.

One day later, White once again silenced his critics, winning an unprecedented 4th consecutive Winter X Games Superpipe gold medal. This further solidifies White’s position as the winningest X Games athlete ever, especially once you include the ones he’s won as a skateboarder during the Summer X Games.

(Not to be completely ignored, fellow Americans Scotty Lago and Louie Vito placed 2nd and 3rd in the event, respectively.)

  1. I’m not sure about Sean’s ski wear but you can’t really complain when he’s getting perfect 10’s at the X Games.
