Make All Your Ski Fantasies Come True

It won’t help you win a date with Julia Mancuso or Ted Ligety, but a new website, Fantasy Ski Racer, just might help you fall in love with the world of competitive ski racing all over again.

Created by the apparently multi-talented US ski team member Steven Nyman, Fantasy Ski Racer attempts to do for alpine ski racing what other fantasy sports websites (shout out to FleaFlicker, a popular free fantasy sports website created by my childhood friend, Ori) have done for other pro sports, especially football.

Skiing Magazine explains the concept:

Following in the footsteps of the fantasy football frenzy, FSR works like this: players pick which skiers they think will finish in the top ten at a race. Points are awarded based on how accurately a player predicts the race’s outcome. Bet on a dark horse and snag extra points. It’s also possible to create leagues with friends.

Thanks to Nyman’s ski industry sponsors, you’ll have opportunities to win free schwag throughout the World Cup season.

Speaking of fantasizing about skiing, Ski Butternut is planning to open just one week from today!
